Easy Ways to Instantly Change Up Your Look
Do you secretly envy the way the Kardashian-Jenners cycle through a new look every season? Or maybe you’re feeling underwhelmed when you look in the mirror? If you’ve grown bored with your look, it may be time to switch things up.
There’s a reason women tend to change their look after a breakup. Revamping your look can be reinvigorating and even empowering. If anything, a makeover will certainly make things more interesting, and all it takes is a few changes to instantly update your look.
Try a New Hairstyle
For a woman, our hairstyle is like a calling card. It’s a very identifiable part of our appearance. Even a small change can make a huge difference.
There are three ways your hair can be changed to instantly switch up your look: length, color, and cut.
Length
Today, extensions offer women a quick way to go from short hair to long, flowing locks without growing it yourself. You can opt for clip-in extensions that are taken out at the end of the day or traditional extensions that are adhered to your natural hair. But you don’t have to do a complete 180. Lumibloom short weaves are one option that can change up your style and add major volume without adding too much length.
Color
Whether you go to the salon or use an at-home solution, everyone will agree changing your hair color will instantly alter your appearance. If you’re hesitant to make a big change, consider adding highlights rather than all-over color. There are also products that allow you to temporarily alter your hair color for a few washes. It’s a way to test run a new hair color before fully committing.
Cut
Many children can tell you, a single snip of the scissors is all it takes to change up a haircut. Grown-up ladies know to leave the cutting to a trained professional. Don’t worry. If the cut doesn’t produce the desired effect extensions can always be used to correct it.
Add New Staples to Your Wardrobe
Your wardrobe tells a story about who you are and what you’re about. Over time clothes have a way of becoming a uniform. We begin gravitating to the same general outfit that gets worn over and over.
You don’t have to invest in an entirely new wardrobe to change up your look. All it takes is a few key pieces to give your personal style a jolt. Focus on accessories that are worn frequently. Imagine the difference it would make to simply switch out your regular flats with a pair of pumps. An edgy blazer, playful stockings, bold jewelry – find a few stand out accessories and make those the new staples of your wardrobe.
Another way to play around with your personal style is by joining a clothes-sharing club. There are a number of companies that are built around the concept of clothes swapping rather than buying. You sign up as a member then decide how many items you want to “rent” at a time. This gives you a lot more freedom to try new styles and looks on a regular basis without dropping a ton of cash.
Try a New Makeup Look
It’s amazing how you can temporarily transform your appearance with a few changes to your makeup routine. We’ve all seen the YouTube how-to videos and Instagram before and after pictures that show how contouring can restructure a face.
But contouring is just one way to alter your appearance. Trying new hues or focusing on a different feature can also make a difference. If your makeup go-to is perfectly applied red lipstick, switching to a nude lip and a smokey eye will make people do a double take.
Go for a Cosmetic Procedure
Have you been considering a cosmetic procedure recently? You’re not alone. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that in 2016 alone there were 1.7 million cosmetic surgical procedures and 15.4 million minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures.
Facial rejuvenation procedures (i.e. Botox, dermal fillers) are by far and away the most popular cosmetic procedures. This makes sense when you consider they are usually non-permanent, relatively affordable and there’s no downtime for recovery. When Botox and dermal fillers are done by a skilled administrator, it won’t look for obvious that you’ve had “work” done. You’ll look refreshed and rejuvenated, but people won’t be able to put a finger on what changed.
